A Trail Of Two Cities
Build Momentum will be doing their bit for charity by taking part in this years London 2 Cambridge Challenge on Saturday 2nd July . This will involve walking 100km in around 24 hours, or less hopefully. We will be setting off from Hackney Marshes at around 7am on Saturday morning and will arrive, to a heroes welcome, on the cobbled streets of central Cambridge in the early hours of Sunday morning. That is the expectation in any case, the reality could well be somewhat different, we shall have to wait and see.
Training is already very much underway with all members of the team keen to rack up the miles now to avoid any painful surprises on the day. Some of the more meticulous among us have already taken to night hikes to prepare for the inevitable darkness, both figuratively and literally. Conditions underfoot are currently not conducive to large bouts of walking but with spring just around the corner, efforts will be ramped up to get us all in tip top condition for the summer.
On a serious note, we will be raising money for Cancer Research. Unfortunately, all of us, within the team and, I’m sure many of you reading, will have felt the affects of this terrible disease, either directly or indirectly. Thanks to this type of fundraising the charity has saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Over the past century, their researchers have made consistent progress in the fight against cancer, and survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years.
If you would be kind enough to sponsor us, you can do so via our fundraising page. There is a link at the bottom of the page. We will update you on our progress as we get closer to the main event. Thanks for taking the time out to read this.
